We can all agree that even in the midst of a global pandemic, it has been a good enough year for the movie and music scene. With so much time on our hands, it has become easier to get into watching and listening to different genres of movies and music. Whether educational, action-packed or comedies, taking time out to unwind is very important. Here at NGRCampus, we have got you covered with the best picks for new movies and music like;

  • Uncut gems: It is about a charismatic jeweller who makes a high-stakes bet that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. In a precarious high-wire act, he must balance business, family and adversaries on all sides in pursuit of the ultimate win. Great plot and finish. A must watch if you love thrillers.
  • The White Tiger: This one is for the drama lovers; it is about an ambitious driver from a poor family in India who uses his wit and cunning ways to escape poverty and rise to the top as an entrepreneur. So many things hit you while watching this. It’ll have you glued to your TV/ laptop screen.
  • Soul: This is an animated movie with a great plot, if you love animations this will keep you interested. It follows the story of a jazz musician, Joe Gardner, who is stuck in a mediocre job and finally gets his big break but takes a wrong step and has to find his way back.
  • Mulan [live action]: Remaking childhood movies can be a bit tricky but this particular one was done right. With a great sequence, flow and a little soft and sweet moments. It follows a young lady who disguises herself as a male warrior and joins the imperial army in order to prevent her sick father from being forced to enlist as he has no male heir.
  • The Old Guard: Action movie lovers, get in here! This movie has all the power-packed action and thrill and is definitely a must-watch. We see a group of mercenaries, all centuries-old immortals with the ability to heal themselves, discover someone is onto their secret, and they must fight to protect their freedom.

As for music here are 5 great projects to pay attention to;

  • Twice as tall by Burna boy; it is nothing new for Burna boy to put out an amazing body of work and this is not an exception. The songs take you from high tempo beats to cool, calm instrumentals.
  • Plastic hearts by Miley Cyrus; if you love some pop rockstar energy, this is a great listen. It keeps you on high energy and takes you through a fun adventure.
  • Roots by the Cavemen; this band brings highlife to a whole new light and this album/project is simply exceptional.
  • Made in Lagos by Wizkid; on this project, you get to go on a cool calm ride with all the songs flowing with ease.
  • For broken ears by Tems; R&B for your soul. The songs on this EP like “free mind” and “the key” take you on a sweet trip and back. With the beautiful voice of Tems serenading you. A great listen.
